Porcupine 6 years, 10 months ago on RBC executive retires after blasting education of nation

Having hired and managed thousands of people in the U.S., I have to concur with his assessment. I maintain that maybe 1 out of a hundred Bahamians could hold a job in the real world. How should it be sugar-coated for a population in denial? Again, let's kill the messenger while doing nothing to improve ourselves. We need to grow up. We have bad habits, a poor work ethic, and place little value on educating ourselves. Is it a requirement that foreigners shut up and act like good visitors instead of speaking the truth, painful as it is?

The best prime minister in Bahamian history. Looks like he still likes his rum and a 'two-t'igh" chicken snack from Bamboo Shack. Best Wishes to the Missus and the Right Honourable Hubert Alexander Ingraham (the only holder of that title where it is a description of his character).

Birdie is just another blind PLP supporter. The PLP can do no wrong in her book. Ironically, people like that are a huge part of the reason that the Bahamas is in such a deplorable state.

juju 7 years, 9 months ago on Symonette defends Minnis from critics over Baha Mar

It is blatantly obvious that you (above) are jealous of Mr. Symonette no? Perhaps he is more hard working than you? Or better educated? Or more worldly? Like many of the same, he is probably genuinely concerned about the future of this country for his grand children and beyond.

If the heat cannot be withstood, Stand down. No one has threatened your family, or yourself, but you are deserving of protest. If anyone will "Ignite" anything it is you. You hold the riot gear. The Grenades. The armored Personel carriers.
Governments the world over have pre-empted violence with violence, which has never worked out in their favor.

I wish that these so-called ministers would emulate Jesus. He hung out with tax collectors, sinners and prostitutes. He welcomed the poor and marginalised. He accepted everyone. These ministers are charlatans who skew the old covenant words of an inexact book to raise their own profiles. They have no right leading people, leeching off them by collecting money and preaching hate against a group of people who cannot help the fact that they are gay. The ministers are despicable human beings who preach hate under the guise of religion. They should be banned.

Craig 7 years, 9 months ago on Pastors' plea to US on gay rights

Dear Good Pastors, Please don't pass these Evangelical dogmatic views of homosexuality off as representing the views of the entire Bahamas. I am not gay, I don't believe in the gay lifestyle or maybe even gay marriage, but that does not give me the right to condemn a whole community of people. On what basis does these pastors believe they right to do this? What, their understanding of ‘laws of nature and of nature’s God’. This strikes me as using laws "nature" justify to discrimination. It also strikes me of being a doctrine of exclusivism . Exclusivism as defined by Wikipedia, is characterized by the disregard for opinions and ideas other than one's own, or the practice of organizing entities into groups by excluding those entities which possess certain traits. Nazism was born out of exclusivism.

This is an easy one to fix. Make the records public. If you have nothing to hide, then do it.

bahamiangoddedd 7 years, 7 months ago on PM’s wife and daughter were ‘several streets away’ from scene of shooting

Who cares, because I certainly don't. The PM has failed to do anything about crime in 5yrs. Every time there is a murder in those communities there are Bahamians who live several streets away from that crime. The life of his wife and daughters is no more valuable than the lives of the rest of us. We pay for their security while Christe has failed to protect us! They ought to be ashamed to go in Farm Road asking those poor people to support a man who clearly FAILED them. Lights off, no running water and outside toilet but y'all begging those poor people for votes! Y'all have no shame!!

Why should Bahamians pay to market Baha Mar when Izmirlian did it for free and was getting traction until he was screwed by the Chinese and the PLP Chinese surrogates?

Every. Single. Person. in this nation should call for the PM to immediately fire the Chief Electoral Officer.

Every. Single. Person.

An utter disgrace, highlighting government incompetence at the most critical and highest level.

DonAnthony 7 years, 7 months ago on Long Island rejects Butler-Turner

Oh what could have been.... the LBT saga would make great source material for an interesting and instructive book. An attractive, ambitious, articulate candidate from a prominent political family, but one fatally flawed by a terrible sense of judgment, lack of wisdom, and unbridled ambition.
She was a decent representative, one who passionately advocated for Long Island in the house, was phenomenal during hurricane Joaquin, but one who could not even keep the potholes fixed. When she named the misogynist Rodney Moncur to the senate, she lost my vote forever. Any person with such terrible judgment as that should never be in power. I wish her the best, but she got as good as she deserved. She paid the consequences for the terrible choices she made. So no need to blame us long islanders, she need only blame herself.

"former State Minister for Finance Michael Halkitis, told The Tribune last night that he is now finished with frontline politics and will not run again."

If it's one thing the incoming MPs should learn, your life and your reputation live beyond politics, so make sure you do the things to ensure they both come out for the good. There's probably not a person in the world who's not wondering how Halkitis and Wilson approved the financial recklessness of the past five years and why they should be given anyone's books to look after.

Baha10 7 years, 7 months ago on 'People's government' will have 16 cabinet ministers

If the Cookie Jar is truly empty as many suspect, then there will be little money to do much with, yet the Bahamian people are unlikely to understand this and will nonetheless expect visible signs of progress, thereby putting immense pressure on Doc to deliver, failing which "The People" will turn on him, leaving him with only option that "The People" may accept for delay, namely going after and jailing in short order those guilty of corruption, as at least when he says there is NO MONEY to do anything, he will also be able to say WHY and WHO is responsible ... AND MORE IMPORTANTLY they have been JAILED for their unpatriotic actions. This is the ONLY "excuse" for inaction "The People" will accept!

I'm sorry to see his career end as it did. But he did not try his best, I'm not sure why he couldn't reign in Shame or Fitzgerald and why so much visible theft and corruption plagued his administration.
