A Referendum on gun ownership is more important than one on gambling, but people don't see it that way. what is the point to win money and when you leave someone rob you off it?

People need to take control as the crooks don't care who they hurt or steal from. We need to arm ourselves legal.

So when am I going to be able to purchase and carry a concealed handgun so I can defend my business and staff? I don't feel totally comfortable walking around my business and getting in and out of my car to and from work carrying around a 3 foot long licensed shotgun...do I just leave it laying about my office and my desk and hope I can dash back and grab it while a handgun weilding thief is approaching? We need to have more 'tools' at our disposal to defend ourselves. The criminals are outgunning us so to speak and obviously they do not care which laws they break in doing so...

Is not Mr Ingraham a citizen of the Bahamas? The barrel making the most noise would be you . A small segment of the populace made a call so whats your gripe against this citizen who like countless others made the deal the prime minster made with the numbers guys null and void, go sit in your little corner and eat your sour grapes , the people have spoken As for the leadership of the fnm methinks that your good leader ought to be looking out for the forces that are assembling .be brave be brave

I don't understand everyone's gripe with Mr. Ingraham commenting on the referendum. In every other country in the world former heads of state comment on issues of the day. Why is Mr. Ingraham insulted and hated because he did the same?
On occasion Former President George Bush Sr. even comments on issues every so often and he was about 3 Presidents ago... So what exactly is the problem?

Dr. Minnis you are 100% right. Do not allow this to be swept under the carpet like so many other things here. In my opinion, this is certainly one of the most bizarre things to have happened in our extremely flawed criminal justice system and it's imperative that you and the Bahamian public get all the answers.

On May 8, 2012 the PLP had no clue that they would wake up to such a different type of Bahamians - a people who are no longer ignorant, no longer fixated by politicians and no longer willing to let the government spew garbage and forget about it. Like mama use to say, "you done pour ya milk so you gatta drink it."

What utter nonsense. On so many levels, the behavior of Gibson and Fitzgerald in this matter represents the epitome of how not to behave when given a position of power and authority in a Civil Society based on the Rule of Law. One would expect this behavior in Assad's Syria, not in Nassau Bahamas. The issue is not whether or not Gibson or Fitzgerald has the right to exercise such discretion, the law is clear on that. The real issue is that the holder of such a discretion is merely a Trustee, holding that discretion for all Bahamians. It is not a right but a privilege, a privilege bestowed to them by the Bahamian people. For that reason they should never use it or appear to use it for their personal benefit without ensuring the utmost transparancy for their decision, for to do so is a fundamental breach of their duty to the Bahamian people. And the PM is as clueless and detached as ever. We may say its only a simple gun case, but when they are at your front door and getting ready to exercise a similar discretion to take away your Rights it will be too late to speak up.

I still don't understand how someone who is acting in his capacity....meaning him being the Minister of Education can look at a file and objectively make such a legal decision. How did this file differ from the next?? And regardless if Alyson Maynard-Gibson and Damian Gomez were away they still need to answer for the person that was acting in their capacity. TRANSPARENCY PEOPLEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

These people feels when they comes into office they donot need to explain to the public whatever decisions make the because, they have the majority of the seats in parliament and the people give them the rights to make decisions even if they are outlandish .

He did nothing wrong. He was the manager, not the owner, of that building. The stolen electricity was for an office he had nothing to do with. He is an upstanding, hard working man. This is outrageous.

Not here defend a man who "knowingly" hires a contractor to steal power from BEC but if anyone is at fault for him spending time it has be his lawyer. An appeal should have been prepared, before sentencing for immediate filing? Maybe to overconfident of getting off was in play?
Why is it the many residents and illegal landlords of the Shanty Town's throughout Bahamaland, who be stealing power with their illegal hookups from BEC every damn single day of the year, not ever arrested, much less jailed? Didn't the BEC Chairman Comrade "Potcake" Leslie just recently showup at at one them Shanty Town's, over some power supply thing?
Most Bahamians didn't need this sentience to understand that common sense interpretations of what constitutes punishment are confusing coming out of our courts.
Personally, I do not have faith in any justice system where who goes to Fox Hill Prison is often based on gut-level and moral philosophical justice? .
