I suggest we enact legislation that brings an end to the gaming industry.

regardless, realitycheck, there is no way that , under the present circumstances, that the Securities Commission would approve an IPO by the numbers boy. Has nothing to do with this specific issue whatsoever.

I too urge the webshops to stop paying taxes due; then the gaming board must revoke their licenses and the police can shut them down. Taxes remain unpaid until they are received by the taxing authority - escrow my a$$!

Ethnic cleansing for the Bahamas is the best idea of the century!

Nothing would make "real Bahamians" happier than to rid our country of these Haitian parasites who consider the Bahamas only as an ATM machine. They have no respect for our laws, people, culture or language.

Whether he was born in the PMH or in Fred Smith's bedroom, unlike the Bahamasit does not make him a citizen of The Bahamas. If Mr. Lawyer doesn't know that and is allegedly a Q.C. then he needs to be disbarred.

jackbnimble 6 years, 11 months ago on 'Disappointing' if Jean Rony deported

"If you are born in the Bahamas to illegal parents, you have the right at age 18 to apply. You are not a Bahamian. That is what everyone is missing.

Now, we do not normally deport these people, that is why this case is interesting and I will be disappointed if that is what happened.”

If they are born in the Bahamas to ILLEGAL PARENTS we understand that they have the right to apply, but do they have the right to stay? I guess they cannot apply from anywhere else in the world, then? Please clarify.

So if you do not apply, does that still make you legal because you're running around town with no papers and just waiving a birth certificate all while touting your right to apply for citizenship and daring them to deport you, which is what I think happened in this case.

Perhaps Mr. Smith could cite the chapter or section of the Constitution where we can find the phrase "citizens-in-waiting"? He should understand that no matter how many times he uses those words, they will not appear in our Law.

Secondly, the article says "He told The Tribune he was sent to “hell” by the Bahamas government, and..." Is he sure it is Hell, or could it perhaps just be a "shithole" like The Donald says?

Ask him if he sees any pregnant women there? Is he advocating for children's rights not to be born in "shitholes" or in Hell? Probably not. Nobody cares about those MILLIONS of children in Haiti, so what makes him so special?

The mother's parents are/were Haitians. . .make her Haitian entitled to a Haitian passport! The child is Haitian due to Haiti's amendment of Article 11 in 2008. . .the Bahamas retained its Article 7 requirement for citizenship. . .by law the child is not Bahamian and is Haitian. . .that's why the UN will not classify her as stateless. . .nor any Haitian born in the Bahamas and can't be Bahamian citizens. . .it is what it is!!

THIS CHILD IS NOT BAHAMIAN AND NO AMOUNT OF NONSENSE YOU TALK WILL MAKE IT DIFFERENT. . .SHE IS NOT BAHAMIAN!!

SHE CAN TRAVEL ANYTIME . . . BUT THE USA WILL NOT ALLOW HER TO COME IN THEIR COUNTRY. HAITIANS CAN THINK AS EVERYBODY ELSE. . .FIX YALL STUFF AND STOP DOING ALL KIND OF NONSENSE LIKE YALL EEN GAT NO SENSE THEM BLAME EVERYBODY FOR TELLING YINNA TO CHECK YASEF. . .

HAITIANS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY CAN ONLY MASH-UP THEIR OWN NATION. . .NOT EVERYBODY ELSE OWN.

After saying that. . .I believe that if her daddy is Bahamian she should be Bahamian too. . .

BahamaRed 6 years, 3 months ago on Star student hopes red tape won't halt his dream

Sorry I disagree... his parents came here illegally to benefit from this country's free education. It's awesome to see that he took full advantage of what many Bahamians take for granted.

But the fact is, he's still in a country illegally. So therefore he needs to go and legally obtain the Haitian passport that he his entitled to and then legally go about getting himself off to school.

I'm tired of this issue... people coming here illegally and having children, then they don't apply for any type of papers for them. Then when something happens they cry that they are stateless. These Haitian parents are doing a disservice to their children.

The Jean-Tony case has opened the flood gate for this. First the girl with a brain cyst and now this student.

SMH.... stop coming to people's country illegally, having children, and then demanding the government to give your child status.

To many of these women and young girls either want a trophy baby or open their legs willingly to every tom dick and harry that says "I love you". Sorry Mr. Symonette but that is a stupid and reckless thing to say that they should apply for work permit before trying to make this dangerous journey, such a statement gives the impression that there are all kinds of jobs here waiting to be had for them. The simple message should be do not come because there are no jobs here for you point blank
