Have Dame Marguerite deed the Pindling mansion as a gift to the Bahamian people, that is to be used as the Prime Minister's official residence. After the mess this country turned into after the drug running years, it is the least she can do. We don't owe her like she declared during a speech many years ago. It's the other way around.

Is this man so out of it or he is simply trying to distract the attention of the Bahamian people? With so many serious issues the country s facing, he is talking about new parliament and PM''s residence?

I agree. There already is a PM's residence on Skyline Drive -- why hasn't Dame Marguerite gotten her eviction notice. She should be able to afford her own place since she is being paid $80,000/year from the state for doing absolutely nothing, a car, a driver, a butler and maid. Not to mention all the money LOP hid away in Swiss bank accounts.

Why do we need a new Parliament anyway? It's not as if anything actually gets accomplished there. All the MP's do is talk and talk ad nauseum .... hell they could do at the beach!!!

There are more pressing issues in this country that to build a new house for the PM. The PM needs to be on the telephone with the MD of BOB and the Mortgage Corporation to find out which Bahamians are being evicted from their homes and step in as Minister of Finance to see what he could personally do to help them, since their Mortgage Relief programme was just another broken promise never realized.

All we have to do is kick Dame Marguerite out of the Prime Ministers residence.

Mitchell and Roberts just stop it with your stupid comments! There you go, doing what you are best at, threatening people that dare speak of your incompetence. There’s more us now seeing clearly now. Was once a fool, but no more! No one believes in you anymore, get it? The young people are opening their eyes! Beware, because once their eyes are opened, you are in BIG trouble, mister! Your gov’t has been too busy stealing and going to parties to take the time to look around at the desperate state of our people. You all don’t even throw us a crumb unless we walk the party line! Now you want to talk about Bahamian or not. You should be ashamed of yourself, using us as pawn in your crooked game. You are not Bahamian, you are PLP and that does not equate, not in your current diseased mental state. You want respect for PGC, there is nothing there to respect, he has disgraced the title, he has disgraced our country and we are all in this mess because bad leaders, starting with LOP. I’d say you just don’t have the mental capacity to understand the harm you are doing but it’s been proven that the reason for the disgrace found in our government is greed, solely greed! You know you can get away with it because your disgraced LOP has sadly been your guiding force. Poor you…it’s all you know, to lie, steal, threaten and grab it all for yourself. A sad, sad shame the path our beloved Bahamas is being led to.

Tal, your comments are stupid as always. Ingraham telling his Ministers to stay away from the corrupting influence of Peter Nygard is not the same as Ingraham threatening to throw Nygard out - which he didn't do. Mitchell is threatening to throw out the largest investor in the country's recent years while the man has an ongoing court case in this jurisdiction. If you can't see the obvious problem with this, then you and the PLP minded people like you are just the biggest idiots in the Bahamas and your dangerous stupidity is going to destroy our country, as we know it. Bahamians, the time to kick this good for nothing government out of office is well beyond time. Call the election. Demand an election! We cannot survive their stupidity any longer.

If Christie does not quickly publicly condemn Freddy Boy's unbecoming, undignified, undiplomatic, unstatesmanlike, and un-Bahamian behaviour, then Christie himself is no better a ranting, raving looney-tune of an imbecile than Freddy Boy.

PGC is not in a position to criticize Mitchell. That has been obvious for a number of years now.

I don't expect having a racist xenophobe as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration is going to add much value to this country, especially one that can only use an abnormally small percentage of his brain capacity.

"Baha Mar is a commercial entity, designed purely for the profit of the developer.” Ummmm.... no actually it is an entity designed to add hundreds of millions of dollars to the economy, although the Bahamian economy will likely see a small percentage of that, as the majority will no doubt go into the pockets of the politicians such as Mitchell.

I have a feeling that these "politicians" are in the process of digging their own graves yet are too naive to know it. By attracting this much global attention, surely it's a matter of time before the truth get's revealed and they all get exposed. Maybe in a few months they will have wished they spent some money carrying out a refurb her Majesty's Prison.......

So, now we live in a Communist country where people can't speak their minds or against politicians or policies? Wow....guess china's reach has gotten deeper into the Bahamas than originally thought! Watch out Bahamas, you'll be the next communist nation. What next...limiting the number of children people can have? Or where they can travel?

What a sad day for the Bahamas when a major, major investor is threatened with deportation by a jumped up egotistical wanna be statesman for DARING to have a different view from the government. Mitchell should have nothing to say about this dispute whatsoever. PGC will of course fail to rebuke his Foreign Minister because he can't.

This is the Bahamian people's fault! This is the kind of government that they voted for! The way that Fred Mitchell and Perry Christie operates is well known to the Bahamian people! And yet they voted for them anyway!

So all of y'all people complaining and voicing your vexation; shut the hell up! Y'all are getting exactly what you voted for!! Any fool could have seen that the Bahamas would crumble under the likes of the PLP.

From another post, but very relevant right here:

The PLP want foreigner money, but they don't want the actual foreigner. It's like their line about hating the sin, but not the sinner, but reversed.

The PLP is a xenophobic government. The fact that they like foreign money is not an argument against their fundamental xenophobia at all. History is ripe with xenophobic governments who wanted foreign money, but not foreigners.

The PLP was and is a xenophobic government that wants European, American, Canadian and Chinese money but doesn't want to have to actually deal with European, American, Canadian or Chinese people. The same way that they want cheap Haitian, Asian and South American labour, but don't want the actual people in the country either. They only want it if it is their company's payroll that they are trying to meet and then they hypocritically employ them anyway while talking a load of rubbish on the airwaves against them. They give themselves and their cronies all the work permits they need and cry foul at election time. That is the truth and it may hurt, but the truth is the truth.

If they could take the money and the labour without dealing with the people at all, they would. That is who and what they are at bottom. They are the 'all for me' party that lives in denial of the reality they are confronted with. A reality where foreigners and doing business with foreigners is an absolute necessity. They are xenophobic because they view it as a necessary evil rather than just as something that is necessary and then get on with it in an up front, transparent and accountable way. No Bahamian should let 40 years of PLP xenophobia go unchallenged. I could reference hundreds, if not thousands, of quotations of demonstrable xenophobia from PLP party officials and politicians. It would take only minutes searching online to hit you with example after example of PLP xenophobia.

I couldn't agree more. Anybody willing to invest their hard earned money in a place run by this crew certainly needs to have their mental faculties questioned.

Maybe as a part of our overall assessment, when we are looking at allowing developers to come to the Bahamas, to look at having them do a psychological evaluation

Oh. My. God.

These are politicians. High ranking Government people.

The international embarrassment and shame this crew are bringing on the Bahamas is never ending.

Truly ashamed to be part of this nation.

I don't think that we will EVER be able to get passed this current embarrassment.

This guy has no concept of the long term damage that he is causing our country. China never thought that taking over The Bahamas would be so easy. They don't even have to work for it. They are just sitting back and letting our coconut heads fight for the right to be called the dumbest.

Should administer “psychological evaluations” to all politicians first and foremost! Mandatory ethics courses would go far as well, though they'd all achieve the national grade average. 98% of them would be weeded out by the above two criteria. How about along with financial statements we require "outside children counts"? Default loan information? Bounced checks declarations? Arrogant, ignorant and self serving.
