There was a time that big jet from Britain would have been loaded with important medical supplies to help us out. But those days are long gone.

That the UK did not bring supplies shows that every country in the world is in the same boat. For the first time since Independence, The Bahamas is on its own.

This is not a show of solidarity it only proves that The Bahamas still have NO control whatsoever over its borders. Why are British Nationals and dependents still stuck in other countries while their borders are shut but can be transported from The Bahamas? Yes, it takes some pressure of the country not having to care for any of these persons if they fell ill at home BUT trust me this operation here, speaks volume about the integrity of our Nation. It means we have no teeth on the international stage.

I'm afraid all of our nation's teeth were pulled out of our nation's now begging mouth when Minnis first set foot on the world stage. First impressions are quite often lasting impressions and Minnis seldom makes a good first impression.

Wouldn't it be interesting to hear how "they" intend to track down the so-called super spreaders? Or is not possible for the rest of us "mere mortals" to understand such plans?

So is the government providing masks to people now? Are they available? Now there will be a mad rush for those. Keep it up. Every now order just creates further chaos.

This is getting out of hand though. Always some amendment after the first announcement. Can't make this up no more.

it might be true because BFS cater to the major holes which are all closed down. BFS closure wont affect super value because their traditional suppliers are the old Bahamian oligarchy food whoesale companies.

This is predictable.

Persons with jobs have been blind for years to the struggle of the 10% unemployed. What they haven't considered is as that unemployment number increases, the less people there are to give money to their employer.

Have you seen the newspapers? They are ad-less. The Tribune and Guardian will soon have to lay off staff. "Unless" they can dig deep into investors pockets. BTC will layoff staff. Aliv will lay off more people. ZNS will have to let go staff. Govt will eventually have to let people go. This is inevitable. The longer the crisis goes on, that much more companies will be added to the list.

Businesses need customers to subsidize payroll. No customers no payroll

Three realities:

  1. The Bahamas likely will lose NEXT YEAR’S tourist season as well as this year’s. Best plan for that revenue loss.

  2. The Bahamas’ cruise ship industry may never recover, and if it does it will take many, many years. Best plan for that revenue loss.

  3. The Bahamas will no longer be able to get away with charging tourists the highest taxes, fees and prices in this part of the world. Best plan for that revenue loss.

In short, Mr. D’Aguilar: Best plan for less “butter on your bread.”

This government-created chaos is only getting started. A lot of the larger employers have been carrying their staff till now but with no end in sight and cash flow evaporating the number of people in this country that will not be receiving any financial support is about to explode. NIB was designed to be able to service a small percentage of weak and needy at any one time, not the entire country on its knees.
