"Fiscal sustainability and debt reduction remain high on the government’s policy agenda..., the Ministry of Finance said."

OMG! How can they say that after the Government has spent MUCH more than budgeted for EVEN AFTER GETTING MUCH MORE VAT REVENUE THAN ANTICIPATED.

I must be living in an alternate reality!

I love the thought process of this announcement. The Government had nothing to do with the problems resulting in the stopping of the project, nor did it interfere with and of the "liquidation process" but they take full credit for putting together this "fantastic deal" in which the Chinese will own everything. There is no way that this hotel can ever be profitable, and service a 3 plus billion dollar debt, so in the end the lender will own the property, which was their goal in the first place.

Every Bahamian needs to tell the losers in our Parliament to go f$%^ themselves and grow the f$%^ up and be adults and get a grip on our finances. Can we please get some mother$%^ing adults in the House of Parliament? Because these mother$%^ing PLP jokers need to go!

Banker, it is as clear as day that the ordinary tax payer will end up compensating the Bahamian creditors. Once the extent if the "deal" is revealed after the general election, I suspect we will find that Christie sold out Bahamians yet again in order to try and save his political skin. I would love to be wrong but he has history. Also, you can tell a lot from his body language at the press conference. He does not look like a man that has much to celebrate. Also, the timing of the announcement to negate the bad news of the downgrade is classic PLP. As I say, I would love to be wrong on all of this but we are dealing here with a PLP political party that exists on deceiving the gullible.

Sigh birdie ... more dead good news.

(1) They say that the work will be finished in late winter of 2017. Wanna bet? The Pointe is already behind schedule and won't open when they promised.

(2) Waiting to see if the Bahamian contractors get paid. Have you noticed that Prime Minister Crisco Butt is like Donald Trump -- says whatever comes to mind whether it is true or not.

What I don't understand about the PLP sphincter-wipers like you, is that Crisco Butt has lied and lied and lied and now you believe him? Just how gullible are you?

Why is the deal secret? If they have nothing to hide, they would be shouting it from the roof tops. I bet you that some taxpayer money is going to pay off the Bahamian contractors. It will all come in in April when we get a regime change.

Christie was "not specific regarding the development’s opening date, only saying that its doors were expected to open no later than the end of winter 2017."

Every Baha Mar timeline the Prime Minister has hitherto promised has proven to be unreliable and so Bahamians should treat this opening date "with a grain of salt". Even if a genuine World Class operator were to be secured, a year-end 2017 opening date seems ridiculously optimistic. So we wait on the revelation of this World Class owner / operator with wonderment in the knowledge that no such operator would purchase Baha Mar for anything less than a substantial discount on its book value. We also know that the Chinese are not prepared to accept anything less than 100 cents in the dollar. Therefore, my friends I ask the question: who will be making up the difference? You've guessed it: you and me and the generation to come. That's probably why the Prime Minister was looking so miserable in making the big announcement. He knows what he's had to give away and it ain't pretty. Or maybe I've just gotten too cynical in my old age. Maybe I should just trust the PM like the AG says. I can trust her too, right?

My sober assessment is that this whole exercise was a PLP political stunt timed to take the focus off the news of the rating downgrade and aimed at fooling the electorate that the resort is moving forward (just in time for the general election). In reality nothing has changed. The government (or we the people) are likely paying for construction to begin (in the form of current and future concessions) and the "World Class" operator has not yet been identified or, if they have, their credentials are suspect. I would so love to be wrong.

I hope those Americans sue the pants off them. Unlike Bahamians, they will file a lawsuit in a snap! (Additionally, if charges need to be filed that should be done as well). Too much slackness going on in this country!

I feel very sorry for the people whose lives changed that day.

My car ain't have insurance, my boat ain't licensed and I the boss. Who ga stop me from speeding? Who ga stop me from robbing house. That's the tourist Dem problem. I just trying to make a living. These stinking FNM just a bunch of rich white men. They don't know the struggle. I got a loaded gun. Best nobody try to get in my way.

This is the mentality of many Bahamian men folks. It's not just 4Cs, it's everywhere. How do we change this?

The owner /operator is negligent in that he #1 did not carry liability insurance #2 did not register the boat #3 hand built the boat and did not rig it properly( used bilge pump hose for fuel) #4 Never had a survey done on the vessel. Pure and complete negligence on the owner operator, the company should be shut down and not be seen again. I hope those affected do sue. As for the b.m.a. what a hopeless bunch.

How else would 4, count them 4, vehicles catch afire at the same time at the same location . Who is writing these articles or making these statements ? That's like finding someone dead with 35 stab wounds in their chest and the statement reads: Murder suspected !!!

Of course, and as usual illegal Haitians get off Scott free.

Can i turn in my passport to the Passport Office and just claim to be an illegal Haitian? The benefits just seem to be never-ending under this administration (and the former one).

Im going to tell my children when they turn 16 - the school leaving age - they should drop out and also claim to be illegal Haitians. Im not even going to apply for Bahamian passports for them. A waste of money.

Point is the constitution provides for various services, all of which are neglected and falling apart, failed. Every new administration has failed at the core responsibilities. So lets jump on new services and taxes! All of which will fail. A Bifurcated system as stated above is what Cayman has. Citizen or legally here? N.I.B is being paid so therefore Minimal cost. Not here legally? Paid full pop. The way we Mix "Christian Values" and the Government believing they should also be in charge of our health displays our complete and utter Delusion. Get your sorry #&&es back to your core Constitutionally mandated Jobs! Fix all of that and then we can talk about what you would "like to do"
