St Fort, Coleby shine in Japan
MARK St Fort and Kadeem Coleby produced different results for their respective teams as Niigata Albirex and Akita Northern Happinets continued competition in the Japanese Basketball League’s B1 Division over the weekend. Eighth ranked Niigata A defeated 10th ranked Hokkaido L 77-68 on Saturday. They outrebounded Hokkaido L. 43-29 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds.

Overall crime shows 7% decline
CRIME declined by seven percent in 2019 despite a four percent uptick in murders and a 12 percent increase in armed robberies, according to police statistics. Police Commissioner Anthony Ferguson, as he released the statistics, cited Hurricane Dorian for the murder increase from 91 in 2018 to 95 in 2019, saying law enforcement will learn from having its resources stretched to respond to a natural disaster.
‘Nothing to celebrate’ on $99m borrowing
The Opposition yesterday argued there was “nothing to celebrate” in the Christie administration’s revelation that it is only borrowing $99 million to fund the 2016-2017 fiscal deficit, its finance spokesman saying it had over-burdened Bahamians with taxes to achieve this.
