Hitting the mark
WITH the focus on the IAAF World Junior Championships in Pampere, Finland, next month, sprinters Adrian Curry, Jaida Knowles and Joel Johnson led the performances as they attained the qualifying standards over the weekend at the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations’ Junior National Championships at the original Thomas A Robinson National Stadium.

Bahamas Humane Society. - Tuesday, May 20, is BHS Bingo Night at Green Parrot (Nassau side). Come out for a fun-filled evening of luck and chance and help support the BHS along the way! Winners split 50/50 with the house. Card play starts at 7:30 but come early and eat before we play! Part proceeds of food purchased that evening also goes to the BHS.

Bahamas third overall in CARIFTA medal count
St George’s, Grenada — Despite a couple of bizarre turn of events, the BTC Bahamas Team actually ended up with a third place finish with 33 medals, including five gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze based on the gold medal tally as the 45th Carifta Games came to a resounding end last night at the Grenada National Athletics Stadium.

They didn’t have an overall champion, but at the end of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations’ Scotiabank National High School Track and Field Championships, the Queen’s College Comets held onto bragging rights, having won four of the eight divisional titles.
