GB Power raises reduced light bill estimate to 95%
Grand Bahama Power Company (GBPC) yesterday said it was “confident” that the number of residential customers set to experience reduced electricity bills in 2016 had increased to 95 per cent, with some in line for “close to 7 per cent” decreases.

The Prime Minister is upping his game and dramatically speeding up his decision-making on the pressing affairs of state. Exhibit A in this regard is the “lightning speed” with which he has named an Ambassador to China.
Gov’t crackdown on 20-25% uninsured motorists is urged
The Government was yesterday urged to crack down on the 20-25 per cent of Bahamian motorists who are uninsured, given the increasing frequency of traffic accidents where victims have no compensation recourse.

BAHAMIAN Justin Roberts has pulled off another victory. Roberts defeated No.8 seed Samuel Shropshire in a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the Dominican Republic Futures $15,000 Tournament. Shropshire had a career high ranking of 1,417 and he plays as the No.1 seed for Northwestern University and currently has an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division 1 singles ranking of 34.
Contractors hope for early ‘16 regulation
The Bahamian Contractors Association’s (BCA) president yesterday said he was hopeful that long-awaited legislation to regulate the sector could become law as early as Spring 2016, with the private sector backing “95 per cent” of its contents.

JACOBI Bain, the only Bahamian playing in the 2015 Eddie Herr International Championships in Florida, suffered a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Xaiofei Wang of China in the boys 12 semi-final.

JACOBI Bain, playing in the prestigious 2015 Eddie Herr International Championships, advanced to the quarter-finals with a 7-6 (6), 7-5 win over Tomas Moretto of Argentina. He will go on to play No. 13 seed Maximo Lucentini Sanchez of Argentina 8am today.

THE Bahamas Rugby Union is scheduled to continue its Heineken Cup regular season at the Winton Rugby Centre 3pm Saturday when the Buccaneers take on Freeport. The early kick off is because Freeport has to catch a 6pm flight back to Grand Bahama.

Bahamian accountant Ed Rahming yesterday said he remained one of Baha Mar’s three provisional liquidators amid expectations that their appointment will be ended tomorrow by the Supreme Court.
