That excuse is ridiculous. Think about it. the diver mask was unbuckled yet shredded and no shark attack. It appears the shark bit him on the back of the head over the straps and like anyone would do is unbuckle it and let the shark hopefully chew on it for awhile. It was probably pulling on it so the diver released it to him. Unfortunately. that attack on the rear head area seems the only angle an experienced diver could get snatched away without a trace from any others in the group. It also explains why no one noticed the large shark ( a good chance its a great white that harassed a diver over aggressively at sebastian inlet a couple weeks back. He was finding a spot close to the group but far enough away to do his own thing so he was backing away from the group gauging acceptable distance when the shark grabbed him.
