Police shoot man in face

A MAN is recovering in hospital after he was shot in the face by police.

It happened around 1.50am yesterday in the area of Club Links on Maderia Street.

Police say officers were on patrol when they spotted two suspicious men walking towards a black Chevy Impala.

One was armed with a cutlass.

As the officers approached, one of the men jumped into the vehicle and “rolled over” the foot of one of the officers, throwing him to the ground.

The officer then pulled out his gun and fired at the vehicle, resulting in one of the men receiving injuries the face.

The driver of the vehicle then sped off.

The officer, who received injuries to the left leg, back and arm was transported to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.

The suspect who was injured in the face was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.

Police are seeking the whereabouts of the driver of the vehicle and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

The officer who was involved in a fatal shooting in Abaco on Wednesday night has been suspended and placed on leave.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour said the officer will remain suspended pending the results of a full investigation.

According to reports, officers while on special duty police operations, were involved in a shooting in the Mudd Community in Abaco on Wednesday.

The shooting resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man.

Police have not released the identify of the victim, but sources say he is Job Munnings, also known as ‘Mr Versatility.’

Job, a father of two, was also an aspiring reggae artist.

Sources claim Job was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

Investigations are continuing.

In other crime news, police arrested three men on Thursday after they were caught attempting to break into a house.

Police say they received reports around 12pm of a house breaking in progress in the Gleniston Gardens area. When they arrived they found three men, two aged 26 and the other 27, in the home and arrested them.

Investigations continue.
