FIVE-YEAR-OLD SHOT NEAR EAST STREET

A five-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being shot outside of his home yesterday evening.

The child was reportedly in front of his home on Milton Street, off East Street, just before 6pm.

Details were still sketchy at press time last night, but police reported that the young boy was shot to his upper body.

He was then taken to hospital in a private vehicle.

Police are also investigating a second shooting which took place at around 6.30pm on Carmichael Road.

A 23-year-old man was shot to the leg.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was in the parking lot of a business establishment when he was approached and subsequently shot by three men who attempted to rob him.

The victim was taken to hospital via private vehicle.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that can assist in locating these suspects to contact authorities.

Too many guns. Someone is getting rich, I suspect it's not the usual suspects, but someone with a cloak of respectability.

Guns don't kill people criminals kill people...guns, knifes etc are just tools... anything can be used as a weapon... Guns in the hands of criminals and irresponsible or mentally unstable people is the problem..Thisours, I agree someone is getting rich of illegal guns & I want it to stop.. I would also like to see an audit of the RBPF evidence room for any missing weapons.. I would not be suprized if confiscated weapons are being resold by someone inside..

people kill people but who are putting the guns in their hands....I agree with you wholeheartedly that somehow someone on the force is conspiring to get these guns on the street. Someone is very rich and living in a gated community somewhere but can't invite nobody to is house...

My heart and prayers go out to this child and family..its extremely difficult to except on any level harm coming to anyone especially children, but we dont want to take the focus of these dangerous individuals and make it about guns.. the question should be why do we have all these dangerous individuals with multiple convictions running free, and how did they come into possession of a dangerous firearm..

my prayers for the family .. In a booming economy ,2002 to 2007 ,our economy produced 18,000 jobs ,stats by the ministry of labour ..in these same 5 years 25,000 young adults came out of school ,,mind you not graduated b/c about half left w/ a certificate of completion ,,ie they attended,,,now take into account kids that dropped out and there is no way our economy can keep pace with our birth rate ...therefore crime will continue to rise ,,irresponsibility can not produce responsibility ,,

concernedcitizen: I appreciate the Objective nature of your argument.. Mathematically birth rates are too high to be sustained by the economy.. I have also believed for the longest that Nassau has too many people living on the island.. I know this is where the resources are but a tremendous population shift needs to happen with further infrastructure investment in the family islands. Perhaps a further shift to eco tourism would be the key.. The question is how do we address the issue of populations growth, illegal immigration and get it under control

nobody ,no goverment ,no social service agencies ,and no posters discuss the issue of effective family planning and birth control ..it is like a taboo subject that the white man is trying to control us ,then the standard refrain is God said go forth and multiply ,,until there is a mayor shift in esteem and sexual attitudes we will follow the examples of Haiti ,Jamaica etc ...all the other talk is just physco babble chatter ..
