A MAN was murdered by someone he knew following a domestic dispute at a Tall Pines residence over the weekend, police said yesterday.

While authorities are aware of the victim’s identity, Central Detective Unit (CDU) Superintendent Paul Rolle said authorities would not reveal his name because investigations are ongoing.

The incident, by The Tribune’s records, has pushed the murder count to 61 for the year. It happened on Saturday night.

Mr Rolle urged the public to come forward with any information they might have to assist police with solving this latest homicide.

According to police, shortly after 10pm, a man was at Cedar Terrace located at Tall Pines visiting a female friend when a man he knew armed with a hand gun, shot him in his abdomen. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. As a result the victim was taken to the hospital where he died at 1 o’clock Sunday morning.

Mr Rolle said: “We are following some leads and teams are out right now looking for whom we believe to be the suspect. Hopefully by tomorrow morning we have the person in custody.

“As we continue to investigate I can tell you that we are reasonably sure that this was a domestic dispute.”

Police are also investigating a shooting that left a man in hospital.

Shortly after 10pm on Saturday, police received a report that a man was shot on Gladstone Road near Fire Trail Road.

Although police initially said the victim died while being taken to hospital by ambulance, authorities later said the man was in fact alive, but in critical condition.

Police are also investigating a stabbing incident that has left three men in hospital.

On Saturday shortly after 1am, a fight erupted at a nightclub on Elizabeth Avenue in which each of the men was shot several times in his body. They were taken to hospital where they are detained in stable condition. Investigations are continuing, police said.
