RELATIVES are appealing for any clues that might assist investigators following the death in hospital of a 62-year-old hit-and-run victim.
Leslie Ingraham, 62, was walking near his home in Skyline Heights when he was hit by a car on Sunday evening, March 9.
Mr Ingraham died in hospital less than a week later on Thursday, March 13.
According to police, investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Yesterday, Linda Symonette, Mr Ingraham’s sister, said: “The main concern really for us is to find out who hit him and left him in the road bleeding and didn’t call the police. He lost a lot of blood, we don’t know how long he may have been down, but he had to be down for a while because of the amount of blood he lost.
“We would like anybody who has any information who may have seen anything because he was just left bleeding,” she said.
Mr Ingraham was found by a neighbour, who took him inside and called the ambulance to the Lakeview Drive residence.
According to Mrs Symonette, Mr Ingraham was unmarried with two adult children, who live in the United States.
Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to call 919 or contact them anonymously on 328-TIPS (8477) in New Providence or 1-242-300-8476 in the Family Islands.

had a friend and his running partner hit few weeks ago by Baha Mar and driver never even stopped.... hit and run. Drivers here have no courtesy and or responsibility. families devastated by bums!

This is a disgrace....If they should find the driver they should put him in jail and throw away the key....outrageous driving around here....HOW can you hit a person and not have the compassion to stop and help ?.....and I am stupid enough to hope that people will be kinder to animals...when you read this you feel like you are wasting your time...

Let me first say that it's despicable that a person would hit another human being with a car and not stop. That is just cruel and whoever the person is deserves to be punished.
However on another note you cannot place the blame solely on the drivers. I have been driving down Tonique Williams Darling Highway (Harold Road) and have had pedestrians just step out to cross the road as though they own it. No use of the pedestrian crossing, no looking to see if something is coming, just saunter cross taking their sweet time. Bahamians have no respect for the road. They cross where and when they feel like and then blame the drivers if something happens.
Although on the other hand I have seen Bahamian drivers navigate the roads carelessly. Pulling out of corners with no indication, swerving around other vehicles without checking to even see why they were stopped in the first place.
Overall I believe all Bahamians would benefit from practicing a bit of road courtesy. Because these same Bahamians go to Miami and wouldn't so much as spit on the road if they thought there was a law against it. Yet in our own country with our own people we violate and disrespect the law.
