SENATOR Michael Pintard emerged as the Free National Movement’s new chairman at the party’s convention last night.
During his celebratory remarks after the unofficial results were released, Mr Pintard said the party must be a united force to “retire” this “unfocused” government in the next general election.
Mr Pintard beat rival Phenton Neymour, former minister of state for the environment and replaces former Chairman Darron Cash, who lost his bid for deputy leader last night.
“We have an enormous challenge to rescue this country from (this) government, a government that is eager to go into retirement if only we would help them,” he said.
He stressed that the FNM needs the support of its elected officers as well as those who dd not win last night.
Last night Mr Neymour said while he was disappointed with the loss he remains committed to working with the FNM to help the party win in 2017.

Honest to GOD I was sick and tired of Darron Cash making stupid press statements every time a crawfish passes gas.

Pintard is always talking foolishness, the Country was rescued from the FNM in 2012. His FNM Government that says :"No Bahamians need apply" By the way it is good he finally has a job. He just may be a lazy man. who runs his mouth and makes no sense. that election was just a farce. it may mean something to the FNMs. but nothing to the Country at large.

Granted the PLP suck as well, but the FNM don't have a foot to stand on after 5 long years of absolute unadulterated political stupidity and outright indignation against Bahamians.

Hopefully, the Minnis/loretta matter can now be put to rest. The nation demands an effective opposition party rise up from ashes over their past 2 years in opposition. Soon answers must be forthcoming, if any of the successful or unsuccessful candidates seeking party office, did in fact offer "free red party memberships" in the run-up to the convention election?

The first answer we need to know is what happened to the $5M of public funds that evaporated into a shell company owned by FNM tourism Cabinet Minister just prior to the 2012 general ellections?
Secondly, why have the PLP sat back for 2.5 years and never explained why the former Cabinet Minister was allowed to abscond with the $5M.
Somebody shared some cash and ALL NEED TO GO TO JAIL !

Comrades with less than three years from facing-off in the 2017 General Elections the reds awoke on November 22, in a much improved position than they went to bed on the night of November 20. I think it would only be fair to say that over past 12-Hours or so, they have a new spring in their step. Who knows, maybe it took only a 12 Hour convention get right job done for the red shirts. Question remains, are they going use it smartly or as dumb as in dumber? No ducking their former chairman and deputy leader said some pretty dumb things, often later claiming they were not speaking on behalf of the red party but themselves. All about them two-selves sounds about right. Right my red Comrades? Being smart is to take the positives which happened over last hours and turn it into a contagious sprint, all across Bahamaland. Honestly, I have my doubts.

The Foreign National Movement has an unquestionably, clearly defined history of excluding Bahamians in favor of foreigners in every aspect imaginable.
P.M. Hubert Ingrahams .............."Bahamians need not apply" and multiple unnecessary foreign contracts for jobs Bahamians qualified for from the judiciary to infrastructural improvements are unforgivable and not to be forgotten less they be repeated.
M.P. Loretta Butler (BLT)..........further said on more than one occasion that "Bahamians were useless, unreliable people due to drug and alcohol dependency which justified the importation of blue collar foreign workers for jobs!" Again, unforgivable and not to be forgotten less they be repeated.
Did we hear any objections from Hubert Minnis, Peter Turnquest, Pintard or anyone else in whole FNM party?
Why the hell would we now suddenly be inclined to believe they now have a change in heart?
HELL NO !
I wouldn't trust the Foreign National Movement with my country and children's future.
They made their bed and showed their true colors for 5 solid years...........NOW LAY IN IT!

Do we change from within or start afresh? Comrades the issue is not whether we elect a red or gold party as our government but do we as a people believe in our capacity for holding our elected representatives and 'taxpayers paid' government officials responsible for their actions? Destroying the two main political parties, only to make room for a new bunch of like-mined politicians under a different party's banner will and cannot make for good governance government. Lazy Comrade citizens .are the chief architects of poor governance.

Pintard is the ideal young Bahamian who can galvanize the Bahamian youth (under 30) to begin to shape a long term vision for the post-Pindling Bahamas (Christie & Ingraham were Pingdomites).
This vision must break with the political and economic status quo of the present Bahamian society. It starts with legalizing marijuana, introducing income tax, land tenure/ownership reform, island-specific diversification (each island with its own unique economy), real local government & tax retention, education reform, widespread use of renewable energy and constitution reform - create a REPUBLIC, gender equality and restructure the branches of government to create more openess and accountability.
That is where Pintard needs to take the FNM in the next TWO years.
