AN American couple was arrested in Abaco after they were accused of having illegal drugs and more than $70,000 in cash at Hope Town, police reported.

Drug Enforcement Unit officers executed a search warrant at a residence around noon on Tuesday when they discovered a small quantity of cocaine and marijuana. Cash in the amount of $77,760 in US currency was also discovered.

Inspector Terecita Pinder said a 46-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were taken into custody and that investigations are continuing.

Four Abaco residents were arrested for various offences, including shopbreaking, stealing, unlawfully carrying arms and threats of death.

Inspector Pinder said two of them were remanded to Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre for drug treatment and the others are expected to be arraigned this week in the Magistrate’s Court.
