Baha Mar employees in 'stand by Sarkis' march

Baha Mar workers showed their support for the project's developer Sarkis Izmirlian.

Baha Mar workers showed their support for the project's developer Sarkis Izmirlian.

SCORES of Baha Mar employees marched from Goodman's Bay to the mega-resort's parking lot in support of the $3.5bn project's developer Sarkis Izmirlian on Friday morning.

The workers, clad in the brand's logo and colours, chanted "we love you Sarkis" as they walked along West Bay Street.

Spokesman Nick Lockhart said: "We are here today in support of Sarkis Izmirlian and the Baha Mar brand. We are not here to talk about the bankruptcy and all of that. We are here to show our support for the man who gave us a chance.

"We are not here to talk about the government and all of that. Our goal here today is to send the message that we, the employees at Baha Mar, are standing with Sarkis Izmirlian."

Attorney General Allyson Maynard Gibson yesterday confirmed that the government will pay the salaries of more than 2,000 Baha Mar workers this month as negotiations over the fate of the stalled $3.5bn project continue.

The decision was backed by a Supreme Court order that has adjourned Baha Mar's application for local judicial recognition of its Chapter 11 filing in a US bankruptcy court until Tuesday.

Looks like they're trying to swipe the project out from under Sarkis, Government in collusion with the Chinese? They are in other things, who knows what threats the Chinese issued to our "Sovereign nation" now that they own us.

All this talk by the government about sovereignty and then they try and merge their and the China Export Banks cases together to fight the bankruptcy in the supreme court.

No wonder Bahamar files in the US, they are well aware of how corrupt and bought this government is.

Well you won't know what his legacy will be but at least Perry Christie can say he was prime minister during one of the most challenging times in Bahamian history. He been putting out fires from day one.

What I watched on Cable 12 news was for the most part very overweight people once again walking and drinking in the street. If the spokespersons for this rabble are any indication of Bahamar employee selection, then obviously no IQ testing was involved. It also appears that facilitating protest (support) parades of Bahamians in the streets by foreigners in Lyford Cay is becoming contagious.

Have you ever been in the supermarket and seen what proportion of the Bahamian population is overweight. We as a people are largely fat tubs of lard waiting for diabetes, heart attack and cancer to kill us.

Can you imagine this shit................. black Bahamians on da road rallying for a Russian who is about to throw us under the bus after the government done jump the gun and promise to pay his employees .................... its blissful in the aqua-coloured banana republic

Izmirlian is of Armenian descent, on the run from their homeland since the Turkish genocide and the Communist control of Armenia. They are part of a very large Armenian diaspora around the world displaced from their cultural homeland. As a peoples, they are usually very good at business.

Actually the gubment is jumping in line to pay the employees in spite of the fact that the Delaware bankruptcy court approved the funds and Izmirlian is using his own money to do so.

If you are going to rant, please be sure of all of the facts first, please.

This Guy does not give a hoot about Bahamians and this "paid for" Rally is simply a leaf out of Nygard's Playbook to disguise what amounts to the boldest insult to the Bahamian people since Independence. He would however make a good Villain in the next James Bond Movie!

Comrade Bana10, foreigner fairy tale Nygard's Cay Peter, was easy to spot but that was before Baha Mar "Nations" Izmirlian, showed up on he white horse.

Bana, you're mad because our tax dollars being waved in front of their faces by the government did not win them over?

Izmirlian is not the villain in this case. He is struggling to make the Bahamas and Bahamians some money. The corrupt government is being obstructionist because they have sold your patrimony to the Chinese. That is what you should be pissed off about !!!

............................. Sarkis Izmirlian For Prime Minister Of Bahamas ..............................

People are not as stupid as PM Christie thought they were!

Mr. Sarkis Izmirlian has obviously EARNED the respect of his employees to the extent of Bahamians supporting him over Perry Christie's PLP government that have FAILED FROM DAY ONE.

Mr. Izmirlian has Bahamian citizenship which allows him the right to run for political office.

After 40 years of political asinine stupidity and failure, who should they trust broke Perry Christie PLP tricksters or Mr. Izmirlian?

Co-sign about earning respect. He could have let them go long ago like Bahamian institutions usually do.

Simple solution to avoid further "he said, she said":

Did Sarkis inform PM prior to announcement?

If Yes, PM has lied and should immediately resign.

If No, Sarkis has disrespected Nation and should have Citizenship revoked.

Again, pretty simple solution, but alas it entails immediate decision making, something that appears unheard of in Our Bahamas!

0

banker 8 years, 9 months ago

So by your logic, every time the PM lies to you, you would revoke his citizenship or kick him out of office? How can you tolerate perfidy from your Prime Minister, along with its attendant corruption, and screwing your patrimony, and you want to kick some guy out who wanted to create 5,000 jobs? I would suggest a course in critical thinking.

It is the absolute height of hypocrisy for Perry Christie and Allyson Maynard-Gibson to express concern about the sovereignty of the Bahamas as a result of the actions taken by Sarkis / Baha Mar. These two greedy bozos, and their fellow PLP cabinet members, are in the process of executing policies they have initiated whereby the Bahamas would end up being sold lock, stock and barrel to the Chinese people. The sale price for the treasonous assault on our sovereignty by Christie and Maynard-Gibson is clearly intended for the greedy pockets of themselves and their select group of elitist political friends and business cronies; in the end leaving the rest of us Bahamians without a sovereign identity of our own!

It is the absolute height of hypocrisy for Perry Christie and Allyson Maynard-Gibson to express concern about the sovereignty of the Bahamas

considering that the greatest threat to Bahamian sovereignty in all of the history of the Bahamas, is this PLP government. We are the remotest province of China.

...... The Electorate Voted The Head Witch Out, Christie Double Crossed Them ......

PM Perry Christie's governance was doomed to failure the minute he defied the electorates will by double crossing them and placing widely despised Head Witch Maynard in the AG position.

It was the first of many outright degrading slaps in the peoples faces and double cross's Christie would have to pull while trying to keep numerous skeletons silenced and locked away in closets.

Head Witch Maynard obviously have some very seriously damming goods on PM Christie to demand such a high PLP post after being kicked out of office by the electorate.

The people ridded themselves of Head Witch Maynard due to a total lack of confidence and trust.

PM Christie stupidly abandoned his "charter for governance manifesto" that got him elected, turned his back on Bahamians and fell hook line and sinker for a tall flask of the Witches Brew of greed, deceit and corruption.

Look where PM Christie finds himself now.....The very electorate he swindled into the palm of his hands, now rather trust a total stranger!

Better scrap the Junkanoo Shuffle and take up Kung Fu!

0

Forget Kung Fu.....even Grasshopper don't stand a chance against the ruthless bunch of Chinese Christie has brought to our shores! We need one of those super bugs the CDC in Atlanta has developed to attack anything yellow so as to prevent a similar invasion of the U.S. We will lose many of our yellow coconut trees and a few bright yellow PLPs, but it will still be well worth it to introduce one of these awesome bugs!

Thanks be Comrade Jesus, cuz fortunately for Baha Mar "Nation" workers (whose ain't really working at Baha Mar,) they will get use da 60 million dollars Paul Major has promised Carnival 2015's books will confirm it generated, or as PM Christie defined it - she twas a "smashing" success. Have you ever heard such things coming from"supposedly" intelligent men's in charge taxpayers monies?
I sure hope Da Tribune will seek credit card statements to assure readers that Carnival 2015 credit cards, stopped charging things to taxpayers, on the night Carnival 2015 ended?

............................... Christie, Izmirlian And The Obvious End Game .............................

The electorate was already sick and tired of Christies' PLP blatant corruption and stupidity. The decision to vote the pirates out in 2017 was a foregone conclusion prior to this situation.

Dumbo Perry Christie has succeeded in pissing off Sarkis Izmirlian and his whole nation which translates into NO CHANCE IN HELL for Dumbo Christie to win the next election no matter how much Chinese money he throws around.

Christies' attempt at double crossing Sarkis Izmirlian is the icing on the cake that will bury Christie so deep he won't need a casket.

Christie is a dead man walking to his political grave in 2017 and there is absolutely nothing he can do to avert his political demise.

Jackass dies as Jackass lived!
