No headliner yet - but carnival tickets now on sale

TICKETS for Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival events are officially on sale online, with the Bahamas National Festival Commission saying they had successful initial purchases and a smooth transaction process.

As of last week, ticket sales for “Da Cultural Village” in Nassau and Grand Bahama as well as tickets for the Music Masters concerts on both islands were progressing steadily, said Roscoe Dames, chief executive officer of the Bahamas National Festival Commission, despite the lack of a confirmed headline act for the event yet.

“Sales have been very positive and we are prepared for a volume increase in ticket sales over the next several weeks,” said Mr Dames.

“We want everyone to be able to buy tickets, no matter where in the world they may be or what time it is there.”

“Making tickets available online is convenient for everyone and it gives us a good way to track online sales and where they are coming from.”

Information on the different events and prices are available on the event’s website, which also outlines the different events for the public.

Ticket prices range from $30 a day to a $50 weekend pass for entrance into “Da Cultural Village” in Grand Bahama and from $15 a day to $40 for a weekend pass to “Da Cultural Village” in Nassau. The Music Masters concert tickets in Nassau start at $50 for general admission, $75 for preferred seating and $125 for reserved seating. The Music Masters semi-final events are included in the admission price for “Da Cultural Village” in Grand Bahama.

An announcement on physical locations for ticket offices will be made in upcoming weeks. Once tickets are purchased online, an email will be sent to the address input during the purchase process, with an invoice number attached that one can print out to redeem at a later date.

Well Dr Johnson said the headliner isn't important... whatever that means. Possibly a new definition for "headliner"

maybe they are faking ticket sales, selling to themselves through computers

I wouldn't say that, there are Bahamians who are excited about the festival. I want tickets to Junkamania and Music Masters, haven't bought them yet though. I'm just really upset that they rushed this event, didn't listen to anyone, I can still see the nicely suited, smug face behind the podium telling us dumb folks in tv land how many hits the word "carnival" got vs "junkanoo". That was the beginning of the end, anyone who's repeated that farcical rationale have only themselves to blame

And where is this cultural village in Nassau? What's going to be in this village... one bar and a conch salad stand? And where is the concert being held... on the fort, in the stadium, on the grass at Arawak Cay?

"ticket sales are progressing steadily" What does that mean 1 ticket every hour ? that's considered steady right ?

This must be how Ed Fields organizes concerts at Atlantis. Plenty of suspense!

Comrade I seriously doubt Atlantis's ED has the final decision who gets the taxpayers 1.5 million dollars (still trying wrap me head around the amount involved) but I am shocked he would dare associate is stellar reputation with this PLP thing - they calling Carnival 2015, more so that he would decide to answer the PM's plea to rejoin a committee inspired by cinematic tales of big time spending on what the public and now the entire world are seeing as a Carnival 2015 gone disastrously wrong.
C'mon you bunch of gone all Carnival 2015"stereotypes journalists" why no questions about using taxpayers monies for funding them specially designed Outhouses "Potty Toilets?"
I'd more prefer if some media person would ask ED, if he sanctioned, opposed or even knows about them Outhouses?

BAHAMIANS VOTE/SHOW SUPPORT WITH THEIR FEET. CARNIVAL WILL BE JUST LIKE THE TRACK AND FIELD NATIONALS ............ NO ONE WILL SUPPORT A FARCE AND A PLOY TO GET BROWNIE POINTS FOR POLITICIANS. NO BODY TRUSTS DANNY JOHNSON AND OBIE WILCHCOMBE WITH OUR SPORTS/CULTURE ANYMORE.
