I was reading through today’s Weekend section of the Tribune (March 27) and began to read page 22, attracted by the photos. I was, however, surprised and saddened to see that you have made the major horticultural mistake of thinking that the yellow flowering trees in full bloom around Nassau this week are Yellow Elders (Tecoma Stans), when in fact any gardener or horticulturist will tell you they are Yellow Poui (Tabebuia) trees.
I sincerely hope you will take the trouble to acknowledge this mistake As a Bahamian it is embarrassing that we should be propagating such misinformation about our own national flower, and I hate to think how many Bahamians, as a result of your article, will be roaming around ignorantly thinking they are looking at our national flower when in fact they are looking at something entirely different.

It is a beautiful yellow flowering plant that only bloom for a short time. The yellow elder blooms from November through July. which is a little sad , because in July it is coming to the end of it blooming time.
