A 51-year-old man was killed in a two-car collision early Wednesday morning in Freeport, police reported.

Sometime around midnight, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of East Sunrise Highway and East Atlantic Drive, involving a Hyundai Accent and a Nissan Maxima.

The deceased male victim, a resident of South Mall Drive, was driving west on East Sunrise Highway in the Hyundai. A 22-year-old woman, of Freeport Gardens, was driving the Maxima south on East Atlantic Drive, with three passengers.

Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that EMS personnel took all five persons to the Rand Memorial Hospital.

She said that doctors pronounced the 51-year-old man dead, while one of the passengers injured in the Maxima is in stable condition. All of the other persons were discharged.
