IN AN effort to improve visitors’ experience in Grand Bahama, the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) is searching for Bahamians interested in volunteering for its 'People-to-People Ambassador' programme.

The ministry will be launching a volunteer drive and reception for candidates on May 28 at Junkanoo Beach Club on Taino Beach from 5.30 to 6.30pm.

Brooke Sherman-Grant, public relations officer at the MOT, said this is an effort to improve hospitality and improve visitors’ experience.

She said the People-to-People programme gives Bahamians the opportunity to be ambassadors and, most importantly, hospitable hosts to visitors seeking an authentic Bahamian experience.

People-to-People Manager Bernadette Bastian is encouraging Bahamians who are not directly involved in the tourism industry to take advantage of the opportunity.

The programme aims to match visitors with ambassadors according to their occupation, interests, religious beliefs, age or hobbies. Any Bahamian national can apply to become an ambassador, who will be certified by the MOT.
