Stop the speeding drivers

Airport Gateway Road knocking down of street lights. Driving back from LPIA, I became seriously aware of the number, far from a few, of the street light poles that have been knocked down in traffic accidents, probably most of which involved speeding.

My count exceeded 18 and that did not include a few poles obviously hit, but down for the count.

Who is responsible? This is now the principal gateway from LPIA – surely we can maintain this or do we intend letting it go so it is as usual ugly?

It seems obvious that some safety measures need to be installed... speeding is obvious, they pass me going at least 60-70mph.

Can the Cable Beach Police mount a counter offensive to control the speeders heading to work early every morning before there are serious accidents? It seems Cable Beach Police only wake up once a month and then go crazy over registrations, etc... The constant fender benders at the Baha Mar roundabouts – something has to be done or our insurance premiums will skyrocket. Some drivers simply have not a clue how to use the roundabouts they swing from the far left lane across all traffic.

Maybe drivers shouldn't be driving on these roads at 15-20 mph? Maybe police should start ticketing drivers going too slow, no tail lights, no brake lights, not signaling, texting while driving, not wearing seat belts, 2 lug nuts on a wheel and the list goes on. Speed kills, especially with so many unsafe drivers on this island.

The insurance is already high, not for speeding but because so many drivers don't bother or can't afford it. Too many uninsured here.

The cops need to hang out on the round about and anyone STUPID enough to be in the left lane then go RIGHT around the round about - in the path of other vehicles - should get their license revoked on the spot. Idiots do this crap all day long. There are even cameras on those roundabouts, the cops can do this sitting in their station.

Our drivers test should be done properly, too many get a license with no test at all. You should need to pass a written test just to get your learners permit.

Our test needs to be upgraded.

Also old poorly maintained cars with bald tries, bad brakes, and poor or no lights are not stopped by the Police.

In most countries if the tread on your tires are getting worn you will get a ticket.

We also have to enforce the ticket and not let people off.

One of the safest roads in the world is the German Autobahn ...no speed limit.....average speed well over 100 MPH not KPH but MPH.

Poor driving and poor maintenance is far more dangerous than speed.

Excessive speed is bad too. 60 mph is not speeding man. But these people that think they're being safe by driving at 20 mph need to be ticketed, they are the cause of so many accidents man.

If you go down Prince Charles Dr...and even Tonique WIlliams Hwy...almost everywhere where there are railings to define and secure the pedestrian crosswalk through the median they are all mashed up. Bahamian divers are generally reckless idiots...the 'good' drivers are few and far between.

99% of people here don't use signals and just turn right or left whenever it suits them. And it's rich and poor, white and black, there is no common denominator in this except they live in Nassau. You know what vexes me more than the FNM and PLP retards? Dumb fcks that don't use turning signals.
