THREE men wanted by police turned themselves in for questioning and are assisting officers with their investigation into the double murder at Holmes Rock, Grand Bahama.

One man turned himself into police on Thursday morning, and the other two men surrendered on Wednesday evening, police said.

Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour, officer in charge of the Grand Bahama District, said he is very pleased with the direction the investigation is heading.

“We are in the middle of investigations into the double murder; we feel pretty strongly that they will be of great interest to us in this investigative process,” he said.

Last Sunday, husband and wife, Barry and Sheena Johnson, were discovered shot dead at their residence in Holmes Rock. Both were shot in the head. Their murders shocked the entire Grand Bahama community.

Mr Johnson was a supervisor at the Freeport Container Port, and his wife was a beloved teacher at the Eight Mile Rock High School. Both were described as young, bright professionals with promising careers.

On Wednesday, police said they wanted to speak to three Eight Mile Rock men about the couple’s murder.

ACP Seymour said: “They will be able to assist us tremendously in our investigation in terms of where we are headed, and I am particularly pleased with the direction we are heading in as far as the investigation is concerned.”

“We have officers working around the clock and as I indicated to the family and the public, it is my desire and intention to close this matter in the quickest possible time. I can say at this time that I feel we are doing just that.”

He said they also want to question the men in connection with other matters.

“There are in fact other outstanding murders we are investigating, not only this particular murder, that we want to question them in connection with, but also several outstanding criminal incidents,” he said.

The double murders were the 11th and 12th on Grand Bahama for the year.
