Giants squash Great Whites 123-39

THE top team in Division I of the New Providence Basketball Association pulled off the most dominant win of the season.

The Commonwealth Bank Giants had a 123-39 win over the BIBT Great Whites at the AF Adderley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Adam Johnson had a game high 33 points (5-10 from three-point range) and nine rebounds to lead seven Giants in double figures.

Renardo Baillou had a double double - 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Michael Bain Jr and D’Shon Taylor each had a near triple double.

Bain finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, 11 assists and six steals while Taylor had 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Eugene Bain finished with 10 points and nine rebounds while Jackson Jacob scored 14.

Trevez Hamilton led BIBT with 15 points while Jerard Ferguson scored 12.

The shorthanded Great Whites dressed just six players for the contest while the Giants’ full squad played 10 players.

The Giants dominated every statistical category and limited their opponents to just 12 points across the second and third quarters.

They limited BIBT to just 23 percent shooting from the field and just two three pointers on the night. In a wire to wire win, the Giants also won the rebound battle 61-37 and had an advantage on points in the paint 80-28. They won second chance points 31-10 and scored 43 points off 25 turnovers. They also had 50 fastbreak points while the Great Whites had zero.

The Giants improved to 6-0 on the season, leading the league and the John Archer division.

In a more competitive Division II contest, The SportsCenter Elites defeated Leno Eagles Nest 87-81.

Simar Rolle finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Elites. Troy Marshall Jr finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, Anfernee Jenoure scored 13, Ricardo Taylor Jr scored 12 and Dario McKenzie finished with nine points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Tyrell Butler scored 18 points to lead the Eagles Nest, Donte Deveaux scored 14 and Jonaldo Joseph had 12.
