A FREEPORT man was arraigned on attempted murder and firearm possession charges in Magistrates Court yesterday.

Vacara Morley, 26, of Tamarind Street, appeared before Magistrate Rengin Johnson on two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

It is alleged that on October 9 in Freeport, the accused attempted to murder Hayward Johnson and Shamar Moss.

It is also alleged that on the same date and place, Morley possessed a firearm with intent to endanger two lives.

He was not represented by an attorney and was not required to enter a plea to the charges.

During the arraignment, Morley claimed that he was beaten by officers while in police custody. The judge said that she would make a note of the allegation.

He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services in New Providence until February 4, 2020.
