TWO people pleaded not guilty to fraud charges in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Yvonel Amilphat, 41, and Raquel Amilphat, 47, were charged before Magistrate Andrew Forbes, accused of allegedly committing fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.

It alleged between June 19 and September 26, 2019, being concerned with others, they agreed to commit fraud by false pretences.

The two were also accused of obtaining a spousal permit from the Department of Immigration on Hawkins Hill by means of false pretences on September 26, 2019.

Magistrate Forbes denied the two bail, but stated they can apply for pre-trial release at the Supreme Court. They will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services and return back to court on October 1. They were represented by Alex Dorsett.
