Police probe drowning

EXUMA police are investigating a drowning that occurred on Monday morning.

Shortly after 9am officers from the Exuma district received reports from the operator of a cruising vessel that while sailing in Elizabeth Harbour he had saw a man who appeared to be struggling in the water.

“The swimmer was approached and asked if he needed assistance,” police said.

“However, he barely gave a response. The body was fished out of the water and CPR was administered, following which the male was unresponsive.”

The victim was take to shore and was later examined by a medical doctor who pronounced him dead.

An investigation is underway.
