A MAN accused of seriously injuring two people with a knife and cutlass on Moore Avenue was denied bail yesterday.
Prosecutors allege Anphany “Penn” Knowles assaulted and seriously injured Kendal Pratt with a cutlass during an altercation on July 28.
Knowles allegedly assaulted and seriously injured Jean Joseph with a knife at the same location on August 2.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts each of grievous harm and assault with a dangerous instrument before Deputy Chief Magistrate Shaka Serville.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld, the prosecutor, objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the offences and the risk to public safety if Knowles were released.
Knowles argued that he was a suitable candidate for bail, but Magistrate Serville denied the application and remanded him to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
The magistrate informed Knowles of his right to apply for bail in the Supreme Court.
His trial is scheduled to begin on September 7.
