The newly formed Bahamians in Central Florida (BICF), Orlando Chapter, held its inaugural Meet & Greet Friday evening at CB Bistro, drawing a capacity crowd in what organisers called a historic milestone for the group.

The event brought together Bahamians, people of Bahamian descent, and friends of The Bahamas from across the region for an evening of fellowship, networking and cultural celebration. Organisers said the turnout confirmed demand for a group dedicated to preserving Bahamian heritage while building community ties in Central Florida.

The evening also marked the confirmation of the chapter’s executive officers, who will lead the organization through its formative years:

Additional officers and committee members are expected to be named in the coming days.

The chapter’s executive committee is now drafting a formal Constitution and Articles of Association to govern the organisation long-term. Under the proposed framework, the group will operate as Bahamians in Central Florida (BICF) with a mission to unite Bahamians and supporters of Bahamian culture through fellowship, education, community engagement and mutual support. The organisation also plans to back disaster relief efforts, educational programmes and charitable initiatives.

Membership will be open to Bahamians, those of Bahamian heritage, and supporters of the mission, with annual dues set at $100. Members would receive discounted event admission, voting rights, eligibility to hold office and access to networking opportunities. Executive officers would stand for election every two years under the proposed bylaws.

Organisers are already planning their next gathering, a community potluck, with details to be announced. The chapter said the momentum from its first event has laid the groundwork for what it hopes will become one of Central Florida’s leading Bahamian community organisations.
