A 30-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead on Fire Trail Road East on Wednesday night after an armed man wearing a black hoodie approached the car he was sitting in and opened fire as he tried to run away.
Police said the shooting happened shortly before 10pm in the vicinity of a business establishment.
Officers from the Southwestern Division found the victim lying on the western side of the establishment, behind a gold Nissan Tiida.
He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel.
According to preliminary information, the victim had been sitting in the driver’s seat of the Nissan Tiida with another man in the front passenger seat when an armed man wearing a black hoodie approached the vehicle.
The victim reportedly got out of the car and attempted to flee westward.
The gunman then fired in his direction, fatally wounding him.
Police said the suspect subsequently entered a white vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.
Investigations are continuing.
