A MAN accused of setting fire to a woman’s home admitted to damaging her car windscreen earlier the same day this month.

Prosecutors allege Terrance Stubbs Jr, 39, intentionally set fire to Shan Thompson’s single-storey stone dwelling in New Providence on August 1.

The blaze caused an estimated $300,000 in damage.

On the same date, Stubbs damaged the windscreen of Ms Thompson’s 2008 Toyota Camry. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at $600.

While Stubbs pleaded guilty to a damage charge, he was not required to enter a plea to arson of a dwelling house before Deputy Chief Magistrate Shaka Serville.

The accused was informed that the arson matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

Stubbs was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his bail hearing before the magistrate on August 21.

He will also be sentenced for the damage charge on that date.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld prosecuted the case.
