POLICE Constable Paul Thompson, 35, pleaded not guilty on Friday to exposing a 10-month-old girl to grievous harm in connection with a traffic incident that preceded the child's death. The Queens Road resident was accused of unlawfully exposing the 10-month-old to grievous harm in New Providence on August 14.
According to reports, Thompson swerved to avoid a collision while driving on Prince Charles Drive. The infant reportedly suffered a fractured leg and injuries to her head and face and died a short time later at the hospital.
The infant was reportedly Thompson's girlfriend's daughter. Thompson was subsequently suspended from duty. Thompson elected to be tried in the Magistrate's Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans granted him $9,500 bail with one or two sureties.
His trial is scheduled for November 9 and 10. Kelsie Munroe represented Thompson.
