A 22-year-old man was accused of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl last week.

Prosecutors allege Conrad Clarke had unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl on August 22 in New Providence.

Clarke was not required to enter a plea to unlawful sexual intercourse when he appeared before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.

He was informed that the matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment.

Clarke was advised of his right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until December 11, when his voluntary bill of indictment is expected to be served.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld prosecuted the case.
