IT was reported recently in the newspaper that Dr Duane Sands, FNM Chairman, said that the party’s planned post-mortem conclave would not happen this month, as decided by the Central Council.

He did not give a rescheduled date. Instead, he indicated that the conclave would take place when they are ready. It appears he was referring to the leadership. The party statement is curious.

The Central Council of the party is the highest authority outside of its convention. So, how is it possible that the Council, having agreed to have the conclave by the end this month, could be overruled by the leadership without a further decision by the Council to change it?

Can the Leadership also, on its own, decide to change a date previously agreed by the Central Council for a party convention? Just asking.

If Leader Michael Pintard, wanted to change the agreed timing of the conclave scheduled by the end of this month, then he should have called a special call meeting of the Council earlier this month. 

It should have been done before the Chairman made public comments to the media, presumably approved by the Leader. They should have discussed with Council why they believed that the earlier agreed date was not feasible and seek approval for a new date or time-frame. 

It is arrogant and unacceptable to conclude a position and share it with the public first. It demonstrates a lack of respect for the Council.

What is so distressing is that this type of behavior comes on the heels of Mr Pintard leading the party into one of its worst loses ever! 

If memory serves me correctly, to date, Mr Pintard has not publicly taken personal responsibility for the loss as the Leader of the Party. Nor has he publicly apologised for the loss. 

Mr Pintard ought to move with haste to have the post-mortem conclave. The further away it is from May 12th, the less effective and advantageous it will be for the party.
