A 26-year-old man accused of having sexual intercourse with an underaged girl last November was denied bail yesterday after claiming the allegations were part of a setup.

Prosecutors allege that Brandon Neymour had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl in New Providence on November 8, 2025.

The complainant claims she awoke in a bedroom to find the accused on top of her. The defendant allegedly removed her pants, restrained her and forcefully had sex with her against her will.

Neymour was denied bail on the unlawful sexual intercourse charge by Justice Darron Ellis.

Justice Ellis denied bail on the basis that there was no unreasonable delay in Neymour’s trial, that he had prior convictions and a pending firearm matter, and that he posed a risk to public safety if released due to the risk of reoffending. The judge also found that there was a risk of Neymour absconding before trial.

The accused has prior convictions for stealing, bail violation and assault with a dangerous instrument.

Neymour denied the allegations and claimed he was a fit candidate for bail.

He submitted that he was “a victim of a setup”, claiming that a group of people appeared to be setting up young men and attempting to extort money from them.

The prosecution argued that Neymour was not a fit candidate for bail and that the evidence against him was cogent. Prosecutors submitted that there was a recording of the accused allegedly saying sexual intercourse occurred between the pair, but that the complainant initiated it.

The prosecution also argued that, if granted bail, the accused would pose a risk to both witnesses and public safety.

Timothy Bailey appeared for the prosecution, while Donna Major represented the accused.
