Disney hires Bahamas public affairs director

Disney Cruise Line has named Keturah Babb-Higgs as public affairs director to strengthen its Bahamas-based team.

The cruise line, in a statement, said Ms Babb-Higgs will support its business initiatives in The Bahamas by building relationships and serving as Disney’s contact person with government agencies, community leaders, non-profits, media and business leaders.

“Keturah's deep connection to The Bahamas, combined with her extensive professional experience, makes her a tremendous addition to our team,” said Beth Thibodaux, director, external affairs, Disney Cruise Line. “Her understanding of the communities we engage with will be invaluable, and we look forward to the leadership and insight she will bring to our work across The Bahamas.”

A native of Grand Bahama, Ms Babb-Higgs has held several leadership roles at the University of The Bahamas since 2017, including serving as director of government relations and civic engagement at the university.

She also oversaw the university’s UB IGNITE entrepreneurship and innovation programme, secured grant funding for university programmes, and fostered relationships with organisations including the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Bahamas Protected Areas Fund.

Ms Babb-Higgs work at the University of The Bahamas also extended to conservation, including the UB Conservation Conclave, which received support from the Disney Conservation Fund and Disney Cruise Line in 2023.

“As a proud Bahamian, I am excited to join Disney Cruise Line at a pivotal time in its continued investment and growth in The Bahamas,” said Ms Babb-Higgs.

“I look forward to supporting the company’s expansion efforts, strengthening relationships with government and community stakeholders, and sharing the positive impact of Disney’s investments in the communities where we operate.

“Most importantly, I am committed to helping advance opportunities that ensure Bahamians and our communities benefit from Disney’s long-term presence in our islands.”
