Tourist arrested after punching car window

A US tourist was arrested after punching out the side window of a car whose driver refused to stop as he stood in the middle of the road trying to halt the flow of traffic for a convoy of ATVs in downtown Nassau.

The cruise ship passenger was eventually freed by police after paying the driver the $1,100 cost of repairing the smashed window.

He had to ask his fellow tourists to chip in as he didn't have sufficient cash himself.

The incident happened after the tourist stepped into the middle of Bay Street and illegally tried to stop the traffic to allow the convoy of ATVs to pull our together.

The local driver explained he needed to be somewhere and inched slowly forward as the man tried to stop him, shouting aggressively. When the tourist eventually moved out the way, he punched the driver's window, shattering the glass as the car drove past.

Police were called by one of the witnesses, who was a retired officer,

and the heavily-tattooed tourist was quickly arrested and held. He was given the opportunity to pay for the damage or face charges - and paid up.

The driver, who did not wish to be named, said: “I told the guy that if I had done what he did in his country I probably would have got shot.”

Apparently ATVs don't have to follow our laws. They are always doing this. Same with the jeeps, allowed to run through red lights so they don't get split up. Wonder if its the flag they have that allows it? If so i might add one to my car
