THREE men were remanded to prison yesterday after being accused of gang-raping and indecently assaulting a 19-year-old woman in New Providence earlier this month, with one also accused of assaulting the woman and deceiving a police officer to evade the law.
Joseph Coriolan, 21, Jhon Kerry Monues, 22, and Ralph Hercule, 21, allegedly raped and indecently assaulted the woman on October 4.
Coriolan is also accused of assaulting the woman and, later that day, deceiving Detective Corporal 4004 Taylor in an attempt to evade the law.
All three appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans on charges of rape and indecent assault. Coriolan faced additional charges of assault and deceit of a public officer.
The defendants were not required to enter pleas.
They were informed that their case would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment, scheduled to be served on January 28, 2027.
The men were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services after being advised of their right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
Bjorn Ferguson and Gary Russell represented the accused.
Inspector Deon Barr prosecuted the case.
