A MAN was convicted of murder yesterday for a fatal shooting in Gibbs Corner in 2021 after his accomplice testified against him and identified him as the gunman.

Monteze “G-Money” Rolle, 24, was found guilty by a unanimous nine-member jury before Justice Renae McKay.

Rolle was convicted of shooting and killing Charles Williams at his residence in Gibbs Corner on March 27, 2021.

Zencil Rolle, who admitted to being the getaway driver, identified Monteze Rolle as the gunman but acknowledged that he initially lied to police, naming Shaquille Bodie as the shooter because he believed investigators would let him go. However, data from Mr Bodie's ankle monitor confirmed that he was nowhere near the murder scene.

When questioned again, Zencil Rolle changed his account and identified Monteze Rolle as the gunman.

Surveillance footage showed a burgundy Honda Accord circling the area before eventually parking on Thompson Lane.

A masked man was seen emerging from the vehicle. A few minutes later, the masked man ran back towards the vehicle, which Zencil Rolle then drove away.

Zencil Rolle was granted full immunity from prosecution in connection with the murder following negotiations with prosecutors.

Cassie Bethell and Tamika Roberts represented the defendant.

Cashena Thompson and Kristin Butler-Beneby prosecuted the case.
