The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) has named Charles Sealy II, Doctors Hospital’s chief executive, as its new managing director with effect from September 14, 2026.

The Government-owned healthcare body, in a statement, said Mr Sealy brings more than 25 years of executive and leadership experience together with a strong background in healthcare administration, governance and operational change.

He served as Doctors Hospital Health Systems’ chief executive for 14 years, having previously held the positions of chief operating officer and vice-president of operations.

Mr Sealy’s executive responsibilities have included oversight of healthcare operations, nursing, human resources, pharmacy, laboratory services, facilities and other support functions. His academic and professional qualifications include a master of health administration, bachelor of laws, bachelor of science in public administration, and executive training in healthcare leadership.

The PHA said Mr Sealy will now lead its efforts to strengthen performance, empower employees at every level, and improve the policies, procedures and systems that support the delivery of public healthcare services.

It added that his mandate will focus on improving operational efficiency and accountability, strengthening institutional governance, enhancing the patient and employee experience, and ensuring that the PHA is positioned to respond effectively to the evolving healthcare needs of The Bahamas.

The PHA said this will involve the delivery of safe, compassionate and high-quality care; the creation of a supportive and empowering work environment for healthcare professionals and support teams; and the continued strengthening of public trust in healthcare institutions.
