A MAN with an upcoming murder trial was accused of breaching his bail conditions for 80 days over the past six months.
Prosecutors allege D’Javon Johnson, 39, failed to sign in at his local police station on 80 days between March 2 and September 2.
Johnson was on bail for murder for his alleged involvement in the fatal stabbing of Nicartha “Twin” Murphy following an argument in the parking lot of a business on East Street South and Cox Way on July 10, 2019.
Johnson was also reportedly stabbed and injured during the incident. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment, where Murphy was later pronounced dead.
Johnson pleaded not guilty to violating his bail conditions before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.
He also indicated to the court that his Supreme Court trial was set for the same day as his arraignment before the Magistrate’s Court.
Reserve Inspector Deveaux, the prosecutor, objected to bail, citing the serious nature of the offence and the risk to public safety.
Johnson was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his bail breach trial on September 21.
