A POLICE officer testified that she feared for her life after a gunman opened fire near her family’s Quakoo Street home in 2022.
Corporal 3333 Precious Lewis gave evidence in the attempted murder trial of Jeremy Dames, 34, before Justice Jeannine Weech Gomez.
Dames faces two counts each of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Prosecutors allege Dames attempted to kill Corporal Lewis and Superintendent Dwight Smith with a black and blue .40 calibre pistol near Quakoo Street on January 19, 2022.
Corporal Lewis said she was sitting on a couch speaking with relatives when she heard someone she identified as CJ say: “Who dat?”
She said she then saw the flash of gunfire through a sheer orange curtain covering a window. The shots struck the glass of a mirror inside the home.
Corporal Lewis said she was scared but alerted the others that shots had been fired.
She said she climbed through a window and went outside, ending up near her father’s business, Tom’s Bar.
Corporal Lewis said she saw masked suspects exchanging gunfire with another officer.
She said God was with them that night because no one was killed.
When defence attorney Ciji Smith-Curry asked whether she could identify the shooter, Corporal Lewis said the suspect had been wearing a mask.
Davina Pinder and Gary Rolle III are prosecuting the case.
