TWO men reportedly died after the ground beneath them gave way at a construction site in Lyford Cay on Wednesday afternoon, trapping them beneath soil.
Police said officers were alerted to the industrial accident shortly before 4pm and dispatched to the site in western New Providence.
Upon arrival, officers were directed to the construction site by security personnel, where they found two men unresponsive.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the men were walking southward alongside a foundation wall when the ground beneath them collapsed, causing them to fall and become trapped beneath soil.
Other workers at the site immediately rushed to their assistance and eventually removed both men.
Emergency Medical Services personnel examined the men and confirmed that they showed no vital signs.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
