The Bahamas Red Cross Society (BRCS) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness recently met to discuss ways they can strengthen their collaboration  in public health, emergency preparedness and humanitarian response.

The leadership meeting brought together the Minister of Health  and Wellness, Dr Michael Darville, and senior ministry officials with BRCS President Edison L Sumner, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness Owen Wells and members of the Red Cross leadership team.

Discussions placed particular emphasis on strengthening resilience throughout the Family Islands through community preparedness, volunteer development, improved emergency response capacity, access to essential supplies and services, and stronger coordination before, during and after disasters.

Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to working together to build healthier, safer and more resilient communities across New Providence, Grand Bahama and the Family Islands.
